Heartbreaking in Haiti

No one was meant to eat this local.

In Haiti, some people are so hungry they buy "cookies" made from dirt, salt and vegetable shortening for 5 cents apiece.

This is a heartbreaking story. If you are interested there is a wonderful book about a doctor that has done incredible work in Haiti called Mountains Beyond Mountains by Tracy Kidder. It's painful and inspiring at the same time.

Thanks for the recommendation. I placed a request for it at our library, so I'll get to read it soon. I thought this story was so sad that I didn't even know what else to say about it.
