Okay...

As I watched Munchkin play with the figures from our wooden nativity set, we had the following exchange...

Munchkin: Why is Baby Jesus out of his manger?
Me: Is he learning how to walk?
Munchkin: No, he wants to see how to take it (the manger) apart. He's looking for a drill.

Does he know Joseph was a carpenter, and that Jesus was too for a while? that would impress him, I'll bet.

Hi Joyce,
That's what we like to think, but our church pastor's brother is a Biblical archaeologist and has made some discoveries that throw some doubt on that. It's possible that Joseph and Jesus actually worked in a rock quarry. I guess the word can be translated either way and the archeologist dug up a quarry in the right place. They haven't been able to draw any definite conclusions the last I heard. Not quite as romantic, huh! Of course, they use tools in a quarry, too...

I hadn't heard that; it's good to sort out what is legend and what is fact.

It's a very new discovery -- in the last couple years, I think!
